3. Release the function button. When the boot process to complete, the power LED should glow amber. Check the LinkStation status using NasNavigator2. LinkStation will boot in "Emergency Mode with Initialization". NAS Navigator2 will show I41 message. 4. Push the function to start firmware recovery. You will hear one beep sound when pushing.. Cause: It is in the EM mode (emergency mode) because of the damage in the firmware. Countermeasure: Update the firmware. Call our support center if the situation isn't improved by updating the firmware, and still in EM mode. The product is in the EM mode when it shows "Product name-EMxxx( xxx will be the last 3 digits of MAC address)" on NAS Navigator2.

Download the NAS Navigator program from the link below. This should work in Linux under Wine/Crossover: NAS Navigator; Unzip and install the program by running NasNaviInst.exe. Now run the NAS Navigator program. After a few seconds, your NAS should show up. Note that it is in Emergency mode and has an IP address in the range 169.254../16..
