The home of Newbiggin by the Sea's long Maritime History. A fascinating exhibition of the village's rich relationship with it's unique position in a stunning location on the shores of the North Sea. Includes the history of the oldest working Lifeboat Station in the UK, the fully restored Mary Joicey, all weather lifeboat and local fishing.. Newbiggin by the Sea has a sheltered, south facing tidal bay, bounded by a long promenade. A breakwater in the bay is topped by the offshore bronze & steel sculpture 'Couple' designed by Sean Henry. The beach is beside the Maritime Centre Opens in a new window which can be found on the eastern side of the promenade. The centre celebrates.
